Taras Shevchenko is an outstanding Ukrainian poet, playwright, novelist, artist, public and political figure. He had many talents and interests, and all his work, like his whole life, was dedicated to the Ukrainian people. The poet dreamed of the times when people in Ukraine will live happily, history, culture and language will be respected, as well as when the country will become an independent sovereign state. During the years of his life, he created a huge number of prose and poetic works, which became a true heritage of Ukrainian literature.
